Torah and New Testament Foundations-The False Messiah-Part 32

The Shroud of Turin has coins over the eyes, and these coins have a misspelling. In an article from WWW.Shroud.Com, there is an explanation about this misspelling that “proved” the Shroud originated around the time and place “Jesus” was crucified. The Rev. Francis L. Filas said his discovery is the strongest evidence the Shroud was authentic. The site begins with an article called “Doubts Concerning the Coins Over the Eyes” by Antonio Lombatti. It has a rebuttal to this article called, “A Reply to the Doubts Concerning the Coins Over the Eyes” by Dr. Alan Whanger, August 24, 1997.

What all of this is over is magnifications of the rare coins over the eyes of the man on the Shroud, and that this coin was widely used to cover the eyes of the dead until 70 A.D. The same coin was found on the eyes of the Shroud imprint. So, what they are saying, is that this misspelling actually authenticates the Shroud because this misspelling was found on other coins of the time. You can do further research on this.

This still does not mean that the image on the Shroud is “Jesus.” The man on the Shroud appears to have been buried with coins over the eyes, which some say was a First Century Jewish burial custom, but it really wasn’t. Filas believed he could date the Shroud by matching an ancient coin with the image of the coin on the Shroud to 31 or 32 A.D. Coins over the eyes was a pagan burial custom that some Jews did. They discovered the tomb of Joseph Caiaphas. Inside the family tomb they found his ossuary box (bone box) as well as other members of the family in the tomb. They found coins in this tomb. The excavator believed that “all coins found in Jewish tombs from the Second Temple period, whether found in direct connection in the buried body or not, must be considered related to this burial custom” (Biblical Archeology Review).

When Yeshua was on the cross, many prophecies had to be fulfilled. They did not tear his garment because the garment of the High Priest could not be torn, and Yeshua is our High Priest (Lev 21.10). Even on the cross, when it was out of his control, God did not allow it. God did not allow his legs to be broken because he was our Passover (Exo 12.46; Psa 34.20). Even in his burial the prophecies and the Torah will be kept, not pagan rituals and customs. The coins on the eyes of the Shroud is so significant that it proves this could not be Yeshua. But to the world, it fits into a nice story because it has the biblical characters, and it has what they think “Jesus” looked like, etc. If you don’t know the Torah, then it fits because you don’t know what has to be fulfilled. That brings in the great delusion.

So, let’s move on to the Shroud itself. The following is from an article from the Beaumont Enterprise, Scripps News Service, on the Shroud. You can also go on-line and you can look up the article on Dr. Alan Whanger, Duke University, on this information. The title of this article is, “Shroud of Turin Provided Model As Early As 31 A.D., Expert Says.” Then the article says, “A Shroud of Turin scholar says new research indicates that the facial image on the shroud, considered by some to be the burial cloth of Jesus Christ, provided the model for depictions of god-like figures as early as 31.A.D. These findings date the shroud to the time of the Crucifixion, set by many historians and theologians at 30 A.D., and refute claims that the controversial cloth is a 14th century fraud, said Dr. Alan Whanger, a Duke University professor of psychiatry and member of the Association of Scientists and Scholars International for the Shroud of Turin.

He said he believes they also indicate that the facial image on the shroud was well known and represented the deity to the people of the time. Whanger said he and his wife and co-researcher, Mary, found 79 points of similarity, or congruence, between the shroud and a carved relief of Zeus Kyrios dated by its own inscription to 31 A.D, when he compared them through the polarized image overlay technique he developed in 1981. ‘In a court of law, 45 to 60 points of congruence are sufficient to establish the identity or same source of face images,’ Whanger said. He said there is excellent evidence that the facial image of Zeus Kyrios was based on that of the Shroud of Turin, lending support to the belief ‘that the face on the Shroud was available, either directly or through excellent detailed copies, to the artist carving the relief.’ Whanger added that history indicated the shroud would have been geographically accessible to the artists of the area. There are historical references to the transfer of the shroud, folded into a frame showing only the facial image and called the Mandylion, from Jerusalem to Edessa. The shroud remained there, on public display, until 945 A.D.”

Now, let’s examine this a little deeper. Where have you heard the name “Zeus Kyrios” before? That was the image that Antiochus Epiphanes put into the Temple that was the Abomination of Desolation that the prophet Daniel was talking about (Matt 24.15). Antiochus put his own face on it. Now, 30 A.D. is after the time of Antiochus. All of our images of Zeus Kyrios actually have the face of Antiochus Epiphanes. In an American court of law, 45 to 60 points of congruence and similarity are needed to establish the identity of same source face images. The statue of Zeus Kyrios and the Shroud of Turin has 79 points of congruence and similarity, and the statue of Zeus Kyrios is Antiochus Epiphanes. So, the evidence shows that the facial image of Zeus Kyrios is the same face on the Shroud of Turin. In other words, the face on the Shroud in the face of Antiochus Epiphanes, a biblical picture of the False Messiah! When you look at the face on the Shroud, it looks like the “Jesus” of Christianity.

Now, we are going to talk about the entire body on the Shroud. They say there is a little blood on the forehead and that is evidence for the crown of thorns. There is a wound on the side they say was caused by a spear in his side. If you go to the Jewish Encyclopedia on “Antiochus IV, you will see coins with the image of Antiochus on them. One has him without a beard, and another has him with a beard. You will be able to see the relationship between one of the bearded coins with the Shroud of Turin, with movies, images in someone’s living room, Wal-Mart and flea markets. They look alike, even in other countries. This is not mention the images in churches and stain glass windows, statues and pictures, not only in Catholic churches, but virtually every Christian Protestant organization as well. If you have an Oriental or Black “Jesus”. they all look like the Shroud of Turin. We have this delusion that is coming forward here, and it is world-wide.

We know that before Messiah comes, we have an “Elijah.” John the Immerser (Yochanon ha Matvil) was an “Elijah” before Yeshua when he came the first time (Matt 11.13-14; Luke 1.15-17). The Talmidim understood John was “Elijah” who was to come. But, what did he say to the priests in John 1.21 when they asked “Are you Elijah?” He said “No” because he was not a reincarnation of Elijah, but, he was in the “spirit” of Elijah, or “cut out of the same cloth” as Elijah. He did say he was who the prophet Isaiah was referring to in Isa 40.3-5. He was the “voice” but when most read Isa 40.3-5, they stop in verse 5. But if you keep reading it says, “A voice says, (a “Bat Kol”, the voice of the Lord)’Call out.’ Then he (the voice of v 3) answered, ‘What shall I call out?'” Then, from this point all the way to Isa 66.24, we have the message that God is giving the “voice” (Elijah) before the coming of Yeshua. It begins with verses 6-8 with “life is short so what should you pay attention to? The Word of God because it stands forever.” God tells the “voice” (John on the First Century, and a future “Elijah” during the Birth-pains) to go into the open public to proclaim the Basar (Good news, Gospel). Contained in the passages that God gives the “voice” and “Elijah” from Isa 40.9 to Isa 66.24, there will be certain passages with a description of the Abomination of Desolation being contrasted to the greatness of God.

In Part 33, we will pick up here with this description.
