Torah and New Testament Foundations-The False Messiah-Conclusion

We are going to look at some passages that will have a description of the Abomination of desolation, and these passages will be in contrast to the greatness of God. In Isa 40.18, they will be making an image they liken to God. In Isa 40.19 says it is an idol, plated with gold, and it has chains of silver. Isa 40.20 goes on to say that if they cannot afford that, they go out and select a tree and prepare the idol so it won’t totter or fall down. God has warned them about idols because he is the Lord and there is no god like him. He tells them in Isa 40.25, “To whom will you liken me that I should be equal, so he is contrasting himself with this idol they are making. In Isa 41.7 it says that the idol is fastened with nails so it won’t fall down. Their idols are called an “abomination” in Isa 41.24.

In Isa 42 it talks about the Messiah, then in comparison to the idol they are making in the following verses. Isa 44.13 says they make it “in the form of a man, like the beauty of man, so that it may sit in a house (or Temple).” These are very important verses. This idol is called “my god” in Isa 44.17 and again called an “abomination” in Isa 44.19. It is called “god” and it is a wooden idol that can be carried around in Isa 45.20. Isa 46.7 says this idol can be carried around on their shoulder and “set in its place and it stands (Matt 24.15).”

Isa 44.18 says, “They do not know, nor do they understand, he (God) has smeared over their eyes so that they cannot see and their hearts so that they cannot comprehend.” In other words, this is a delusion. It goes on to say in Isa 44.20 that “He feeds on ashes; a deceived heart has turned him aside. And he cannot deliver himself, nor say, ‘Is there not a lie in my right hand?'” Now, let’s go over some of the highlights in these verses to narrow down this description.

This idol is “likened to God” with “silver chains (to possibly wear around the neck like Haman did in Est 3.2).” We learn that they “select a tree (Yeshua was hung on a tree)” and it was made with “nails.” It is called an “abomination” with the “form of a man” and in the “beauty of man.” We know that in movies, pictures, images and statues that portray “Jesus” it is done in a beautiful, handsome manner. He is portrayed as “kingly, majestic and strong.” However, the Scriptures say that Yeshua had no form or majesty that we should look upon him, nor appearance that we should be attracted to him (Isa 53.2). This idol can be in “houses” and can be “carried on the shoulder (like a cross)” and it “stands.” So, let’s narrow this down to a few words or two now. This idol is likened to God, has chains of silver, a tree with nails, an abomination, in the form of a man (being called God), in the beauty of man (being called God), is in houses, wooden, carried on the shoulder and stands, and it is a delusion to the people.

Now, is there an idol today that is seen that meets that description? We believe there is. In Num 21.6-9, we have the story of the Brazen Serpent on a pole. We have gone over this on other occasions so we won’t belabor the point, but when you look to this Brazen Serpent you were healed from deadly snake bites, and lived. When the people looked at the pole, all they saw was a serpent, a cursed “nachash.” In 2 Kings 18.4 we learn that this Brazen Serpent on the pole was preserved in the Temple, and it was called “Nechushtan” (see the root “nachash” there?). This item was turned into an idol by the people and Hezekiah destroyed it.

In John 3.3-15, Yeshua is talking to Nicodemus and says that he must be “born again” or “born from above.” He tells in v 14-15 that “as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes him should not perish, but have eternal life.” This is a clear instruction to Nicodemus to look to Yeshua, like the people looked to the Nechushtan in Num 21, when he is crucified to be born again, or have life. The symbol of the crucifixion in the Torah, the Brazen Serpent (Nechushtan), was turned into an idol. In the same way, the cross/crucifix has been turned into an idol all over the world by millions.

Now, we know that these passages are in a section of Isaiah called “The Servant Passages” (Isa 40-66) and these passages will be the message of “Elijah” who is to come in the Birth-pains. He tells them to watch out for an image, an idol, that is coming and it is a delusion, meant to deceive. Remember, the image of Antiochus Epiphanes was placed in the Temple and we are told that in the future, there will be an image placed in the Heichal (holy place) of the Temple. It is possible there will be one on the Altar (like Antiochus did), one in the Holy Place of the Temple, and a third one at the Shaar Korban (the Sacrifice Gate), the northern gate of the Temple, based on Ezek 8.3-5.

Hab 2.18 says, “What profit is the idol when its maker has carved it, or an image, a teacher of falsehood?” Yeshua was the “teacher of righteousness (Joel 2.23 in Hebrew). The False Messiah and his image will be a “teacher of falsehood.” We have found that the Shroud of Turin has the image of Antiochus Epiphanes. It cannot be the burial cloth of Yeshua because he was wrapped with strips of linen, like a mummy. The shroud should have no face on it because Yeshua had a separate face cloth.

Psa 22 is called the “Crucifixion Psalm” by many. Psa 22.12-17 says that his bones were out of joint, that he could see his bones exposed because of the scourging. Josephus described crucifixion and said the victim was whipped until his bones showed (Josephus, Wars, 6.5.3). Isa 50.6 says, “I gave my back to those who struck me, and my cheeks to those who plucked out beard; I did not hide my face from shame and spitting.” His tormentors literally tore his beard out (not seen on the Shroud). Isa 52.14 says, “Just as many were astonished at you, so his appearance was marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men.” You could no longer recognize him, who he was anymore, even as a man. That is not what is seen on the Shroud.

The Abomination of Desolation, we believe, is described in Isaiah and some of the passages we have just gone over was seen by the Catholic Church as alluding to the Crucifix. There is a prayer called the “Oleynu” and passages from the verses we have just presented were used in this prayer. These verses were taken out of the Oleynu due to pressure from the Catholic Church because it quoted Isa 45.20, and they saw this as an attack on the crucifix. But, the Oleynu predated the Catholic Church (Hertz Authorized Daily Prayer Book, p 208-209), so that would be impossible. The Catholic Church made the connection to the idol being made in Isaiah to the crucifix.

We have learned that Manasseh put up two statues (Talmud, Ta’anit 28b). One was an “Asherim” (male/female imagery) and another called an “Asherah” (feminine goddess). As a result, we believe it is also possible that along with the Abomination of Desolation, which we believe is a crucifix (an Asherim), there will also be a statue of “Mary” (an Asherah). These can be seen together all over the world, even in Israel right now. They have a statue of Mary in Kiryat Arba (Motzah), the place where David made a mistake moving the Ark. On top of a Catholic Church there you can see this statue of Mary and she is over the Ark of the Covenant. This alludes to Replacement Theology. Where was the Ark of the Covenant? It was in the Kodesh Ha Kodeshim, the Holy of Holies. Strong delusion has been given here.

Dan 12.11-12 says, “From the time that the regular sacrifice is abolished and the abomination of desolation is set up, 1290 days. How blessed is he who keeps waiting and attains to the 1335 days.” The last half of the Birth-pains will begin on Nisan 10. Thirty days prior to this, the False Messiah will end the regular sacrifice and have the Abomination of Desolation set up (30 days plus the 1260 days of the last half of the Birth-pains equals 1290 days). The image on the crucifix is “Jesus.” From Nisan 10 to the end of the Birth-pains will be 1260 days. If you go ahead 75 days beyond that you come to 1335 days, and the festival of Chanukah after Yeshua has returned (1260 plus 75 equals 1335). He will dedicate Ezekiel’s Temple and fulfill Dan 9.24 where he will “finish the transgression, make an end of sin, make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy (Holy of Holies).”

So, we will conclude with one last question. Can you see the difference between “the greatest story ever told (Yeshua) and the greatest delusion ever told (Jesus of Christianity and the False Messiah)?”
